# Defining a simulation

From FDTD++ wiki

In order to **define a simulation**, a number of items *must* be addressed. These include:

- Geometries must be modeled
- The computational domain must be defined
- Materials must be modeled
- Sources must be defined
- Simulation parameters must be set

Once these items are addressed, the time-domain Maxwell's equations can be solved using the finite-difference time-domain method by running FDTD++.
